Waalijt Foundation’s Parent Pathways

The Waalijt Foundation’s Parent Pathways program is a voluntary support program designed for, parents and carers that are first nations in the Southwest region. They work with parents and carers of children under 6 who are receiving a parenting or carer payment and are currently not in employment.
Through one-on-one mentor support, the program helps participants set and achieve personal goals such as accessing further study, obtaining a driver’s license, building social connections, arranging childcare, engagement support vouchers, assisting with purchase of laptops for study goals and more. They also offer financial assistance and referrals to additional services that may support their journey.
They are passionate about empowering parents to build confidence, grow their skills, and plan for a future that works for them and their families. The program is completely voluntary, and participants can choose to opt out at any time without affecting their parenting payments.
They are based in Bunbury and provide outreach to Australind, Busselton, Collie, Donnybrook, Harvey, Manjimup, and Margaret River.
