What is CAMHS Crisis Connect?
CAMHS Crisis Connect provides 24/7 urgent mental health support to children and young people, as well as their families, carers, and community professionals who are concerned about a young person’s wellbeing. The service is delivered by a multi-disciplinary team of specialist paediatric mental health professionals based at Perth Children’s Hospital and has 3 main functions:
- 24/7 crisis telephone line (1800 048 636): Available to young people under 18, their families and carers, and community professionals (e.g., teachers, GPs, NGO staff) seeking mental health support, guidance, or urgent advice.
- Mental health assessments: for young people under 16, provided face-to-face at PCH ED or via tele-mental health in regional EDs and community settings (in collaboration with local clinicians, with regional access expected in 2026).
- CAMHS inpatient unit bed flow coordination to support access to appropriate specialist care when required
